We come together once a month and provide our members with a host of different activities and support. Everyone is welcome!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And while CIWA encourages every writer to continue writing,&nbsp;we do not support&nbsp;any form of&nbsp;pornography, erotica, or BDSM&nbsp;writing. I\u2019d like to rephrase that\u2014everyone has the potential to write a book. This works because rather than supposing our book is just there, waiting to be released, it considers the person and how we play a part in the creative process. In this workshop, we\u2019ll learn how to get out of our own way by using the letter T, timelines, and other tricks to propel you toward your memoir\u2019s first draft.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014Melissa Fraterrigo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong><em>Meet Melissa Fraterrigo&#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Melissa Fraterrigo\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0memoir,\u00a0<em>The Perils of Girlhood,<\/em>\u00a0was published by the University of Nebraska Press in Fall 2025 and was named by Literary Hub as one of \u201c100 Notable Small Press Books of 2025.\u201d She is also the author of the novel\u00a0<em>Glory Days\u00a0<\/em>(University of Nebraska Press), which was named one of \u201cThe Best Fiction Books of 2017\u201d by the\u00a0<em>Chicago Review of Books,<\/em>\u00a0as well as the short story collection\u00a0<em>The Longest Pregnancy<\/em>\u00a0(Livingston Press). Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies from\u00a0<em>storySouth\u00a0<\/em>and<em>\u00a0Shenandoah\u00a0<\/em>to\u00a0<em>Notre Dame Review, Sou\u2019wester,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>The Millions<\/em>. She teaches creative writing at Purdue University, in the Butler University MFA in Creative Writing program, and is also the founder and executive director of the Lafayette Writers\u2019 Studio in Lafayette, Indiana, where she offers classes on the art and craft of writing.
