Mission Statement

CIWA welcomes all writers, beginners and seasoned.

The mission of Central Indiana Writers’ Association (CIWA) is to support and encourage writers, on all levels and genres, in their efforts to develop and share their work.

We are an established group of writers with a mission to continue to serve the writing community. Visit our site often for new information. We’re going to be working hard to make this the site you keep returning to.

Each year, we ask our members to give us ideas of what programs they would find beneficial in the New Year. We elect a Director and Co-director each year that leads us through our meetings and guide our footsteps during the year. Sometimes a member will be in charge of the meeting and other times will find an outsider sharing their expertise. This format gives us a diversified schedule while generating enthusiasm and interest. We have open readings, or possibly roundtable discussions, but we are sure you won’t be bored.

We offer a variety of programs including speakers, readings, writing exercises, and assist our members in the development of their craft through “prompt” sessions, critiques, annual short story contests, and information on a wide variety of writing opportunities
