First time 2019 – a Cozy Mystery contest

                                                         GUIDELINES

 

Who can enter and what is the deadline: Membership in CIWA or being a resident of Indiana is not a requirement for submission.  Only one entry may be submitted per person.

Entries must be postmarked by October 31, 2019,  or submitted at the CIWA meeting on October 21, 2019 at Greenwood Public Library, 310 Old S. Meridian Street, Greenwood, IN. The meeting begins at 6:30PM in the 1st floor Community Room B.

Subject – The topic for entries is cozy mysteries. Mystery stories that have already been published or have won in other contests are not eligible. No profanity or sexual content is acceptable.

Submission Details –   Submit two copies, one with the author’s name, telephone number and e-mail address if applicable, and the other copy with no personal information. No emails submissions will be accepted. Entries will not be returned. We recommend that submitting authors retain a copy for their file. – Address the envelope as follows: CIWA Cozy Mystery Contest- PO Box 1071- Greenwood, IN 46142

Format – Each entry must be typed on 8-1/2 by 11-inch paper and double-spaced. Maximum length is 1500 words. Print the word count in the upper right-hand corner of the first page.

Entry fee – Include with your submission the entry fee of $15. The fee is payable by check or money order only; make payable to “Central Indiana Writers’ Association.”

Prizes – First Place Prize – is $50.00. Second Place Prize is $30.00, and Third Place Prize is $20.00. Winners will be notified primarily by e-mail, and if necessary, by telephone. Winners will be invited to read their winning mystery at our meeting on January 20, 2020.Winning stories will be published in our monthly newsletter and posted on our webpage (with author’s permission).
